Farsight
This new and exciting group will be structured around anyone with or without experience on any musical instrument that wishes to play any sort of marching percussion instrument. So that means all you need is the most essential trait of any good group — Desire! The group will rehearse once a month for 90 minutes, and members may take home their drums if they wish.
The objective is to take the parents and/or older drummers of the community and design a show that unleashes the inner “Rock Star” in its members. There will be a six exercise warm-up packet and 3 to 5 shorter cadences. If we have any superstars we will add in solo or feature sections. If the group has an interest in marching, a small routine will also be added to their show. The ability to read music is not necessary; all exercises and cadences will be taught with music and by ear.
This will be a great opportunity for the retired drummers to get back in the Groove (HA,HA) but also allow the parents of members to experience the enjoyment of playing the oldest, most proven, and widely used of musical instruments. First rehearsal for Farsight is 7pm, November 19, 2009, at the Armory.
