On May 7th we will have our annual planning session, and elect members for the board of directors for the next year. If any Farsight members or parents/grandparents/guardians of Groove members are interested in serving to continue the great tradition of Groove Inc. either as a board member or a committee member, I strongly encourage you to attend this meeting. Our organization runs on the volunteer efforts of the parents, and we need your help to ensure this great organization continues to thrive and grow. If you saw things we could do better, now is your chance to make a difference! Come join the fun! Your kids will notice and appreciate it (even if they don’t admit it!).
Our meeting will be held in the Ballroom of the Carpenter Hotel Building, downtown Sioux Falls, starting at 8:00 am with a short (hopefully) board meeting, then the annual planning session where we will map out the course for the organization for the next year, including electing some new board members. We expect to finish around noon. There will be some light breakfast snacks available (feel free to contribute something yourself if you wish). If you would like more info, or more specific directions, feel free to contact me.
Thank you,
Paul Dyke,
President (for the time being!), Groove Inc.

To all Impact & Pursuit drummers… Here is a chance to put your skills up against the region’s best…
Sign up now to take part in MPA’s 2011 Solo & Ensemble Competition, March 18 for a fun and valuable performance opportunity. Register online by March 11.
Performing a solo or ensemble piece is a great chance to improve your skills and grow as a musician. This year’s competition will be at Rosemount High School on March 18. The cost is only $5 per solo or member of an ensemble. Pay online with a credit card, or make checks payable to Minnesota Percussion Association and send to P.O. Box 21825, Eagan, MN 55123. Click here to access the forms for paying by check or paying online. Just pick the right form for your payment method and enter.
Applications and payment are due March 11. A performance schedule will be posted once times are finalized.
And as a special treat this year, we’re inviting MPA instructors to perform solos or ensembles in exhibition. So start gently coercing your instructors now and you might seem them on stage!
Time for Groove drummers to do some non-drumming stuff — Build a Snow Fort! When you’re done take some photos and email them & measurements to Pete for the Big Contest. Check back here later this week for the photos and chance to vote on your favorite! First place wins a FREE PIZZA!
Remember, send your photo AND measurements to Pete Hansen before the Wednesday, January 5 deadline!
Pete Hanson offers the first unofficial entry, and it’s a doozy! He says:
It’s in Pipestone behind Hanks Foods 6 blocks from my parents house. My brother Mark and his wife Peicha along with myself and Oscar and Maddy made it on fri and Sunday night. It’s took about 6 hrs.
Anybody surprised that the crazy guy wearing flip-flops is related to Pete?
