Spezia & Bracco’s Gift Card Fundraiser — Update

Fundraising Opportunities | Posted by Dave Thornton December 7th, 2009

Just a reminder… December 15 is the last date before Christmas to get Spezia and Bracco’s gift cards, and it is the end of the school semester (in case you want them for teacher gifts).  Please send your check in advance.

Please see information below:

Bracco Spezia

Dave Thompson, owner of Spezia’s and Bracco’s, and parent of a former Groove member, has graciously offered to allow Groove to sell Spezia / Bracco’s gift cards.

Here’s how it works:

  1. When you purchase the gift cards through Groove, 20 percent of face value of the cards will go to your son or daughter’s account with Groove and can be applied to your son or daughter’s future dues and/or travel costs with Groove.
  2. If your son or daughter leaves Groove before the amounts are applied any amounts not applied can be used by family members in Groove at that time. If no family members are in Groove at that time the remaining amounts stay with Groove.
  3. Gift cards will be available in $25, $50 and $100 amounts and will be purchased on a limited number of days as shown below. You need to notify Steve Pfeiffer of the cards you want and get him a check payable to Groove, before that date. You can give him the checks at a rehearsal, or mail to, or drop them off at, 707 E. 41st St., Suite 200, SF, SD 57105. After that date make arrangements to pick up your cards from Steve.
  4. Dates for orders:
    Tuesday, 12/1/09
    Tuesday, 12/15/09
    Tuesday, 1/19/10
    Tuesday, 2/16/10

These are GREAT places to eat and a GREAT opportunity to raise money for your Groove expenses.

Younkers Community Days Coupon Book Sales

Fundraising Opportunities, Impact, Pursuit | Posted by Dave Thornton November 16th, 2009

To all Impact & Pursuit members:

For those who received coupon booklets as part of the individual fundraiser to be allocated towards your Groove travel costs, please bring any remaining unsold booklets and money for the booklets sold to Impact or Pursuit practice at the armory on Tuesday. Leon Stoel & Joan Westphalen will be there to collect them. If you collected cash and would prefer NOT to send cash with your child, it is fine to make a check payable to Groove Inc. for the amount you collected.

For those who were part of Saturday’s sales from 2-4 at Younkers, that money has been collected from Shelly Murra (the parent helper) and will be given to Steve Pfeiffer, with the proceeds being divided equally between all the students who actively participated during that timeframe on Saturday.

If you are unable to send the proceeds and/or unsold tickets along with your child on Tuesday, or they won’t be there, please contact Joan to make other arrangements to turn them in. Contact Joan with any questions.

Younkers Fall Community Day Event

Fundraising Opportunities, Impact, Pursuit | Posted by Dave Thornton November 3rd, 2009

Here is some news of an excellent fundraising opportunity for Impact & Pursuit drummers and their families…

From: Joan Westphalen

We have already distributed over 500 coupon booklets to Impact and Pursuit families wanting to raise funds for this year’s travel costs. That’s AMAZING participation!! If you would like more coupon booklets, or didn’t pick any up during last Saturday’s camp, please call/text Joan Westphalen at 351-3503 or email me at joanwestphalen@sio.midco.net to make arrangements to get them from me.

The coupon booklet is attached and has incredible savings — one coupon entitles the customer to receive $10 back on any $10 purchase, there are numerous 20% off coupons (even redeemable on sale merchandise), an EarlyBird coupon entitling them to 30% off any item, $25 off any Columbia jacket priced at $99 or more…and special purchases only available with this coupon booklet.

This is how the program works: we provide you with as many $5 coupon booklets you think you’ll be able to sell. You are able to sell these booklets to your family/friends/neighbors/co-workers, between now and Saturday, November 14 (the day the coupons are to be redeemed at Younker’s) and KEEP the entire $5 you collect. On Tuesday, November 17, you will send all remaining unsold booklets, along with the money collected from the sale of the booklets, to your child’s Impact or Pursuit practice at the armory. I will be there to collect the envelopes and will turn your fundraising proceeds into Steve Pfeiffer to deposit into your child’s individual travel fund. For example, if you were given 20 booklets, and sold 15, you would send $75 + the 5 remaining coupon booklets in the envelope you were given at the time they were distributed.

Here are some great perks you should know about this fundraiser:

  • You keep 100% of what you sell.
  • You are able to sell AT YOUNKER’S in 2-hour timeslots between now and Saturday, November 14. Contact Erin Ellingson at Younkers at 361-8282 to set up a time to do this in the store.
  • Beginning Sunday, November 8, anyone who has these coupons can redeem them at the store, giving them the best selection. They would then pick up the items at Customer Service anytime between Nov. 14-16.
  • If we are in the top 25% of all groups selling the books, then we are ALSO able to sell these coupon booklets at the store on Sat., Nov. 14. Erin will be sending out an email to those of you who were given booklets to sell to determine if we are in the top selling groups – so be sure to get out there NOW and sell as many as possible before the 14th.

Don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions.

Blessings,

Joan Westphalen
