I’m with the Dakota District Pipes(bagpipes) and Drums. We’re always looking for motivated individuals to join us. When the kids get too old for your group and if they want to continue drumming, please send them our way. We’ll supply equipment and the kilt. We have room for snare and tenor drummers. Any age is welcome.
We just competed in and won our first competition a couple of weeks ago in Winnipeg. We practice Monday nights, 6:30 at the SF VA, 4th floor auditorium.

What: Pancake Breakfast & Silent Auction
Where: First United Methodist Church, corner of 12th Street and Spring Avenue (one block west of Minnesota Ave.)
When: February 6, 2010, 9 am to 1 pm
Tickets are available from any of the Groove Inc. members (or their parents!) and at the door the day of the event.
As always, there will be lots of great things available for bidding in the Silent Auction. Bid high to get what you want!
The drummers will be performing at various times throughout the morning
- Genesis at 9:15 am.
- Next Step at 9:30 am.
- Cadets at 10:00 am.
- Slam at 10:30 am.
- Impact at 11:00 am.
- Pursuit at 11:30 am.
- Farsight at noon.
- Silent auction items will be handed out starting at 12:30.
Be sure to tell your relatives and friends about this great event, especially those with kids that might be interested in joining Groove Inc.!
Note to Groove Inc. Members: Drummers in Genesis and Next Step should be at the church at least 15 minutes prior to their performances. Cadets, Slam, Impact, Pursuit & Farsight should be there at least 30 minutes prior. Thanks!
Due to an unforseen scheduling error, we are unable to use the Armory on Saturday, January 30.
Here are the adjustments for Saturday:
- Pursuit will load and move all equipment to Faith Lutheran Church (Cliff Ave. and 4th) on Friday night after practice.
- Genesis, Nextstep, Cadets, & Slam will meet at Trinity Baptist (2400 West 18th) on Saturday.
- No Mallets for Cadets and Slam
- Cadets: 10:00 – 1:00
- Slam: 11:00 – 2:15
The overlap of time will be used for putting the show together for Tuesday’s performance at Roosevelt.
All Groove activities on Saturday, Jan. 23 have been cancelled due to the weather forecast.

If you are wanting to make sure you have a specific Groove merchandise item, please make sure you let Cindi know BEFORE Friday, January 22.
The wristbands have been backordered they should be here by the end of the week or early next week.
If you are wanting an “Official” Groove Jacket, keep in mind they do run large…. Also, make sure you indicate what name you would like to have embroidered on the front.

We will be having our parent meeting this Saturday, January 9th, at the Armory.
9:15 am - Genesis and Next Step Parent Meeting
10:00 am – Cadets parent meeting
2:00 pm – Slam parent meeting

GROOVE practices have been canceled for today, December 8, because of the snowstorm.

If you are interested in attending the Phantom Regiment Camp, Pete is planning on going. Here are the details:
Phantom Regiment Camp
- Friday – Sun; December 4-6
- Leaving at 9:30 am Friday from the Augustana Humanities building parking lot
- Returning home by 10:30 pm Sunday
- Travel Cost $80 to Pete

November parent meetings will be held on Saturday, November 21 for Genesis, Next Step, Cadets, and Slam.
- Genesis and Next Step will be at 9 am

Sorry that we messed up our frist meeting with the parents, but we will get better at this ~ we promise.
